Twenty Flight Rock Tiger Army

“Twenty Flight Rock” - Tiger Army, I: Tiger Army

Recently I’ve been on a huge psychobilly kick, with my favorite band being Tiger Army.  Over the years they’ve evolved from a pure psychobilly band to having a more mature sound that incorporates influences from other genres while still maintaining that psychobilly sound.  Here’s a song from their first album, an Eddie Cochran cover.

EDIT: Dammit, again with the stupid picture formatting…

The Cramps - Sunglasses After Dark ( 1979 )

As early as 1976 The Cramps began dissecting Dwight Pullen’s 1958 Sunglasses After Dark and stitching it together with Link Wray’s 1963 Fat Back and created their own monster, Sunglasses After Dark.

Lux, Ivy, Nick Knox & Bryan Gregory

From the LP  “All Tore Up” also known as “The Cramps’ 1979 Alex Chilton Ohio demos”

Loving these Cramps demos.
Just as good as the releases themselves, perhaps better even, particularly this one.
Killer version.

The Cramps - All Tore Up ( I Can’t Hardly Stand It ) ( 1979 ) a lil’ faster than the version that was later on Bad Music For Bad People , with Lux doin’ some insane Atomic Hickups ala Charlie Feathers.

I used to frequent this sleazy dive of a nightclub called Club Image. It was situated in a basement, in the seedy side of downtown Johannesburg, and run by a smalltime illegal diamond dealer, Roland, and his heavy-handed bouncers, Steve and Filipe. All kinds of crazy things went down there, including a shootout in the street outside, when some bigger players came to give Roland a ‘visit’. I loved that place, and used to be there dead-on 9pm every Saturday night, when it opened, and stay until we were thrown out into the Sunday morning dawn, the next day.

Anyway, The Cramps were played there a lot, so I’ve been reminiscing this morning, with all these great posts happening on the dashboard….
